Tricks! From Classics to Party Tricks

Teaching your dog how to do tricks on “cue” is a fantastic approach to training any behaviors that you would like your dog to understand. We love using tricks as a distraction when our dogs are uncertain, such as in the waiting room at the vet, or waiting for your turn in class. We use tricks to warm up our dogs for competition in many dog sports.

AKC Fetch

AKC Fetch is a pass-fail noncompetitive test. The four levels of titles (Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Retriever) assess the ability of the dog to retrieve. In the Advanced and Retriever levels, the dog must respond correctly to signals. There is also a memory component in Advanced and Retriever because a retrieving bumper or ball is dropped (or thrown) behind a blind where it cannot be seen.

For more information on the AKC Fetch title go to: www.akc.org/fetch

Scent Work

Dogs explore their world through their noses. We can work with our dogs to identify specific smells and let us know when they find them. We use specific target odors in this class and dogs learn to search interiors, exteriors, and containers.

When introduction classes open for this fun partnership with your dog, they will be posted here.

There are advanced/competition classes ongoing for dogs that are “on odor”.

  • Continuing Odor – Thursdays 3:00 pm
  • Continuing Odor – Saturdays 3:00 pm

**Classes are currently full and are not accepting new participants.

K9 Manners and More Agility

Agility

Run, jump, climb, zoom through tunnels – that’s what agility is all about. In the sport of dog agility, the handler directs their dog through an obstacle course in a race for both time and accuracy. The Agility 1, 2, and 3 Foundations courses teach teamwork, focus, handling, and agility obstacles in a safe and positive manner.

We have several agility classes for different levels of experience. For prerequisites and detailed description please click on the links below.

Please note, class sizes are limited and preference will be given to K9 Manners & More COEDs and Model Citizens graduates.

Other advanced agility classes are available. Please speak with your instructor or call our office for more information.

**Most agility classes are currently full and not accepting new participants. Watch this space or our Facebook page for announcements of new classes and/or openings.
