K9 Manners and More Day Train

Day Training

Day Training is by appointment drop-off training, which combines play and lessons throughout the day. It’s life-changing for you and your dog. Day Training packages are 8 weeks, one or two times per week, for a full day or half-day.

Our Day Train dogs have playtime with other dogs if they are dog-friendly. We start with a pre-screening visit to discuss your goals and meet your dog. We then determine a start date and schedule your training days!

Your dog…your goals! As trainers, we like to see all dogs have basic manners; not jump up, walk on a loose leash, come when called, and pay attention when asked. As a pet owner, it might be important for your dog to learn how to chill out or settle down in your office or other spaces. Or perhaps he needs to learn how to take direction from someone other than you.

Your pre-screening visit will give us the opportunity to learn about you, your family, and what you envision for your dog. We accept a limited number of dogs into this program to be sure each dog gets plenty of individualized attention, so there may be a waiting list to get started.

Day Training is great for crazy-busy puppy owners! Good training during those first few months with your pup can lead to a lifelong good relationship. We hold short transfer sessions to teach you what we have been teaching your pup, to maintain the needed consistency.

Dogs with aggressive behavior toward people are not accepted into our day training program.

Private Lessons

When you come to K9 Manners & More with your dog for one-on-one training, we can focus on the problems most important to you! A few of the problems we solve for dog owners every day include:

  • House training & crate training
  • Puppy mouthing & biting
  • Jumping on visitors
  • Door issues: bolting, rushing the door, etc.
  • Basic obedience like sit, down, come, stay, etc.
  • Socialization (for dogs that are not aggressive and have not bitten)
  • Pulling on leash
  • Not coming when called
  • Barking at other dogs or people

We also do private lessons for agility coaching, conformation handling, and competition obedience training.

Private lessons are by appointment only. Appointments are for Monday through Friday, before 5:00 pm.

K9 Manners and More Behavior Consult

Behavior Consultations

Group classes are not appropriate for some dogs,  especially if they show aggressive behavior towards people or other dogs, or if they show guarding of food or toys. Dogs do not outgrow problem behaviors, and bad behavior does not just disappear. If your dog has behavior problems, a behavior consultation is the first step toward changing that behavior problem. Some issues we see include:

  • Aggression toward people
  • Aggression toward dogs or other animals; fighting/injuring
  • Anxiety issues
  • Protective of food, toys, space, people (resource guarding)

Please note, if upon review of your behavioral history form, we believe you would be better served by a veterinarian behaviorist, we will refer you. There are some things that we may refer you to your regular veterinarian for clearance prior to beginning behavior modification training.
